NAGAN RAYA, 2 November 2026 – PT ASI Pudjiastuti Aviation (Susi Air) has officially resumed its scheduled commercial flights connecting Nagan Raya, Aceh, via Cut Nyak Dhien Airport, with Medan via Kualanamu International Airport, effective Monday, 2 November 2026.
The resumption of this route follows a bilateral meeting between the Regent of Nagan Raya, TR Keumangan, and the Founder and Owner of Susi Air, Susi Pudjiastuti, held in Jakarta on Wednesday, 21 October 2026. The meeting centered on revitalizing scheduled flight services to enhance air transportation access for communities in Nagan Raya and surrounding regions.
The inaugural flight ceremony for the Nagan Raya–Medan route took place at Cut Nyak Dhien Airport on Monday, 2 November 2026, at 11:00 AM WIB. The event was attended by Susi Pudjiastuti alongside Susi Air Director, Nadine Kaiser. Both were welcomed by the Regent of Nagan Raya, TR Keumangan; the Regent of West Aceh, Tarmizi, S.P.; the Vice Regent of Nagan Raya, Raja Sayang; as well as local leaders from the Regional Leadership Coordination Forum (Forkopimda).
Susi Air’s bond with Nagan Raya (Meulaboh) is deeply rooted in humanitarian history. In the aftermath of the 26 December 2004 Aceh earthquake and tsunami, before Susi Air was established, aircraft owned by Susi Pudjiastuti were dispatched with emergency aid to affected areas, including Meulaboh, Nagan Raya. It made history as the first aircraft to land in Meulaboh for post-disaster humanitarian relief. This milestone became an essential part of Susi Air’s origin, defining its mission to open air access for communities, especially across Indonesia's outermost, frontier, and underdeveloped (3T) regions—a commitment to connection and service that continues to drive Susi Air today.
The route previously operated in January 2026, when landslides and flooding completely cut off road access between Nagan Raya and Medan. Susi Air has now resumed the service, operating four days a week on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, providing an alternative means of air transportation for local communities. Flights from Medan to Nagan Raya are scheduled to depart at 07:00 WIB, while flights from Nagan Raya to Medan depart at 08:30 WIB, with an estimated flight time of approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes each way.
The resumption of this route is part of the Nagan Raya Regency Government’s ongoing initiative to optimize flight operations at Cut Nyak Dhien Airport and bolster regional transport links across Southwest Aceh, locally known as Barsela. The service is designed to significantly reduce travel times and facilitate public mobility toward regional economic centers, administrative hubs, and public services.
The Regent of Nagan Raya, TR Keumangan, stated that resuming operations on this route marks a strategic step toward optimizing regional air transport infrastructure.
"This initiative is carried out to optimize the airport's function as a vital transport link for the community, business sector, and various regional development interests," he said.
Beyond improving passenger mobility, enhanced air connectivity is anticipated to broaden economic opportunities, support business activities, and accelerate investment and infrastructure development across Nagan Raya and neighboring regencies.
