2017 Pilot Career - Flight Instructor (code: 01 PFI)

Susi Air is looking for a motivated flight instructor willing to join our team at the Susi Air Training Centre.


Duties will include flying and ground instruction, scheduled and charter flights. At completion of First-Officer training program, the candidate will be employed as Full-Time instructor and First-Officer (depending on operational requirements).

This position provides the opportunity for career advancement to turbine powered aircraft for the committed and capable pilot, with further opportunity for a Captain upgrade.


Minimum requirements:

Essential duties and responsibilities

·         Responsible for accomplishment of aviation instruction consisting of ground school and simulator training for Initial, Recurrent or generic aircraft training courses. Measure training progress of students.

·         Training tasks will include lesson planning, classroom and simulator set-up, upkeep of current aviation publications and instructional training materials, acting as Second-In-Command pilot in multi-crew simulator sessions, evaluate student’s progress and performance, issues and problems, prepare necessary documents and reports, as required.

·         Contribute to Susi Air Safety Management System (SMS) activities including: supporting and promoting the safety culture.

·         Occasional travel may be required.

Education, Experience and Certifications

·         Experience in aircraft type and or type rating a plus but not required.

·         To join the Susi Air Training team as a pilot instructor to provide ground and simulator training you must have:

o    A total pilot time of 750 hours (1,000 hours or more is preferred).

o    Commercial Pilot Certificate with current Instrument Rating.

o    Certified Flight Instructor rating or Aviation Ground Instructor Certificate with an Instrument rating or prior experience. Acceptable prior experience includes military pilot instructor or pilot instructor in a Part 142, 135 or 121 operations.

Skills & Abilities

·         Excellent fluency in English, through both verbal and written communications; able to speak, understand, read and write.

·         Must be an excellent listener and presenter in order to meet and exceed the Customer’s expectations during the training process.

·         IBM PC and/or compatible computer with printer; various standard office equipment

·         General knowledge of: MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook. Database: MS Access, preferred.

Susi Air would receive any pilot application all year long but only shortlisted candidates will be followed up and depending on company needs.

Susi Air would conduct interview when the need for pilot arose. Otherwise there will be no interview.

Susi Air adopted regulations from Indonesian Directorate General of Civil Aviation as the basic requirement for employment and added up with other company's interior requirements.

CATEGORY 3. Non-Indonesian / Non-Indonesian License Holder:

  1. Hold minimum 250 hours on aircraft and preferably above 750 hours. (simulator time not included).
  2. Comprehensive CV. Specify hours flown in the last 6 months and last 12 months.
  3. at least ICAO CPL Single Engine Land and IR (current). FAA mother license is preferable.
  4. Copy of latest examiner's report/ proficiency check form/ flight review/ flight test, exhibiting the Single Engine and IR rating as per license.
  5. First Class medical (current), no restriction except for corrective glasses.
  6. License verification letter with current information from authority
  7. Free of accident-incident verification report from authority.
  8. Copy of logbook in the last three months with verification stamp or signature from chief pilot or flight instructor.
  9. candidates must be free from any form of color blindness and passed the Ishihara Color Test - Indonesian authority only accept the Ishihara Color Blind Test.
  10. Minimum of level 5 ICAO English proficiency test.
  11. Valid passport minimum 24 months left

  1. Hold CPL (minimum) from DGCA/ DKUPPU
  2. Hold a First Class medical (current or not).
  3. Hold minimum 200 hours flying hours on aircraft, preferably above 750 hours. (simulator time not included) 
  4. Minimum 5 hours in the last 6 months.
  5. Copy of logbook in the last three months with verification stamp or signature from chief pilot or flight instructor.
  6. Minimum of level 5 ICAO English proficiency test. Speak fluent English.
  7. Comprehensive CV. Specify hours flown in the last 6 months and last 12 months.
  8. ID (KTP or Passport)
  9. For experienced pilot/ non Ab-Initio MUST attached an accident and incident-free report from DGCA.
CATEGORY 2. Indonesian (WNI) from non-Indonesian flying school :
  1. All requirements in CAT 1
  2. Copy of foreign license on Single engine and IR
  3. License verification letter from authority is a MUST
  4. Accident/incident-free letter from authority is a MUST

Restriction of Foreign Employees (Pilot)

Indonesian DGCA has issued a circular which stated non-Indonesian passport holder pilot will not be issued an Indonesian License effective per October, 2013.

Pilot will be issued a Validation instead which will have up to 12 months validity and renewable.
